Quote/movie scene for week 14th- 20th of October '07

In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. Anton Ego, character in the movie "Ratatouille"

Listen to Ego's full review on YouTube -- my selected movie scene of the week-- with the food critic superlatively dubbed by Peter O'Toole throughout the movie. I should also say that Ratatouille (IMDb, RottenTomatoes) just made it to my top 25 movies.

great catch, what a pity it's not a critic though (not one critic who'd say that)

Thanks.
The fact is that Anton Ego is, by far, my favourite character from Ratatouille. The ultimate food critic that really knows what good food is-- an ideal-- and, at the very end of the day, against his extreme skepticism/pessimism (necessarily nurtured and polished carefully...),finds it :-). This extrapolates, of course, to anything of value, beyond just ideal food. I'd like to be such a harsh critic (all of us are, to some degree) just for the immense (albeit rarissima) pleasure of being proven dead wrong.
