Song of the day: Hayley Westenra's "Dark Waltz"

For quite a while now I've been an enthusiastic fan of Hayley Westenra, a young singer with an incredible voice, from New Zealand, of Irish descent. She's already shown a lot, but just watch her in 5-10 years from now! Some pieces sung by her that I really like - and that can be found as clips on YouTube- are: the beautiful Maori love song "Pokarekare Ana" (see lyrics and short history here), the intriguing "Across the universe of time" (featuring also her younger sister, Sophie) or the duet with Andrea Bocelli in the Italian-English version of the famous "Vivo per lei" (with an amazing pair of skaters performing on the song). But my favourite- and the song for today - is without any doubt Dark Waltz (could not find a live performance or a videoclip of this piece, hence I chose, from the alternatives on YouTube, a clip with scenes from The Phantom of the Opera, which fits very well to the song- congrats to its creator!). Dark Waltz's lyrics (and lyrics for other Hayley Westenra songs) are here. Enjoy!

i agree with you. Her voice is so clear and pure. She'll be a big star in a few years ahead. It's so amazing, gorgeous and wonderful when she sang vivo per lei together with andrea bocelli. The ice skating performance made the whole clip even more nice to watch ^^

Thank you for this post. I believe Hayley may have the most beautiful and enchanting voice on earth. Her potential is so huge, I wouldn't even know where to begin. And she is blessedly beautiful to boot - inside and out.
